Working Together to make a HEALTHY KOONTZ LAKE

 

Purpose of KLACC

 

This committee of the Koontz Lake Association (KLA) is formed for the betterment and preservation of Koontz Lake. This commitment is to include, but not be limited to upgrade: its water quality, its shoreline, its bottom (sediment, algae, aquatic macrophytes), and other conservation and recreational needs of Koontz Lake.

 

 

Mission Statement

 

The mission of KLACC is to protect, enhance, preserve, and wisely use the recreational resources for the benefit of Koontz Lake citizens through professional leadership, management, and education. Engage in study of, and educate landowners and the public in general regarding enjoyment and use of, the natural resources in and contiguous to Koontz Lake, Indiana. All of which will be done with the proper and required permitting from the Indiana DNR, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and State of Indiana and Counties of Starke and Marshall.

 

 

Vision Statement

 

To protect the water quality through a monitoring and reporting program and to actively pursue follow-up activities required to improve and sustain the health of the lake.

 

 

To offer experiences and education for the youth of the area in subjects relating to safe recreational activities on the lake and an appreciation for protecting the Watershed.

 

To protect the natural functions of diverse native plants, including fish and waterfowl habitat, by eliminating the invasion of non-native species.

 

To educate lake residents and visitors about the role of aquatic plants in the lake, management strategies and appropriate plant management actions.

 

To gain expertise in areas that may that may positively influence Koontz Lake, and communicate that information to association members, homeowners and other members of our community.

 

To build and maintain relationships with other organizations and individuals that have similar objectives, purposes and values.
